All you need to get set-up is your Rogers Hi-Speed Internet service and a Wireless Home Networking Gateway. It’s a high-speed modem and wireless router all in one, with a built-in firewall to help protect against threats.

Set up wireless home networking

First, please select one of the following two choices:

• A Rogers technician installed my Gateway for me
• I picked up my Gateway at a retail outlet or it was delivered by courier

Please note: Out of the box, your Gateway does not have any of the wireless security features enabled. This means that anyone within range of your wireless network can connect to it without permission, leaving your personal data unsecured.

So, even if you don't plan on using a wireless connection, you must still follow the next step to help protect your computer and secure your personal data from hackers attempting to connect to your wireless network.

Secure the wireless network

1. Using a computer directly connected to the Gateway, launch Internet Explorer and enter 192.168.0.1 in the address bar. (Do not include “www” before the number.)
2. A username and password login screen will appear. Enter the Username field as cusadmin, and the Password field as password then click Login.
3. Click the Wireless tab and then click the Channel and SSID sub-tab.
4. Set the name of your wireless network by changing the default SSID from the default setting to something personal to you and write it on the last page of your Rogers Hi-Speed Internet User Guide. You will need this when connecting your wireless computer to the network.
5. Click Apply to save the wireless settings.
6. Click Encryption under the Wireless tab.
7. Set the Security drop-down menu to WPA-PSK.

7. In the WPA Passphrase text box, enter an 8-character (minimum) random word or phrase. This will be your security key.
8. For future reference, record the WPA Passphrase on the inside back cover of your User Guide. You will need this to wirelessly connect any other computer to your network.
9. Click Apply at the bottom of the screen.
